SHRM Biotech and Stoodt have been conducting online summer programs on biotech & biosciences since summer last year. However, being a very practical-oriented subject field, the Biotechnology & Biomedical Sciences domain demands significant hands-on training. Hence, we are launching a 2-day offline Biotech Training Workshop for high school students in May 2021. This is a one-time opportunity for students (Grade 9 onwards) to have a glance at the most sophisticated instruments and hands-on lab skills required in the Biotechnology field.

India has 665 FDA-approved plants the US; 44% of the global abbreviated new drug applications (ANDA).
The Indian biotechnology industry amounted to US$ 63 billion in 2019 and is forecast to reach US$ 102 billion by 2025, with a CAGR of 10.9%. By 2025, the contribution of the Indian biotechnology industry in the global biotechnology market is expected to grow to 19% from 3% in 2017. Biopharmaceutical is the largest segment that contributed ~58% to the Indian biotechnology market in 2019, followed by bio-agriculture, which accounted for 19%, and bio-services, which accounted for 15% in 2019.

Program Content of the Biotech Training Workshop
Students will get a chance to learn about all the processes (of the industry as well as research) that are done by applying all the instruments that are present in the laboratory.
The molecular biology laboratory consists of High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), Western Blotting, DNA Fingerprinting, and so on. The microbiology laboratory comprises of Biosafety Cabinets, Air Handling Unit, -80°C and -20°C storage chambers, BOD incubators, Millipore Water Purification System, and much more.

Program Schedule
DAY 1: Visit to Garia laboratory. Preliminary introduction of Life Sciences, its prospects and a detailed tour of the laboratory with brief explanation of all the departments and the functioning of equipment present.
DAY 2: Demonstration of the working of all instruments, discussion regarding future careers, Quiz, brief knowledge of training and projects done in SHRM Biotechnologies and how it will enhance your career.
