Yale University reported a record-number of applications to the class of 2021,  with 32, 891 students applying. Harvard University also reported a record-high number of applications for 2016-17,  with 39, 494 students applying for admission. But remember the United States has nearly 4, 000 universities so there are many excellent schools that you can still gain admission to and get a wonderful education.
