Tips to keep in mind while preparing for Logical Reasoning

Here is a list of tips that will help you in your NMAT preparation 2021 in the Logical Reasoning Section:

  1. Familiarise with yourself the exam pattern:

Before beginning your studies, pick up the previous year’s papers and go through them. Look at the repeated topics, type of questions, and their difficulty level. You will be able to even figure out topics that you have previous knowledge of and the ones that will need more practice.

  • List down the topics based on difficulty level:

After analyzing the previous year’s papers, list down the topics in descending order according to your comfort. Based on this, prepare an NMAT preparation strategy and timetable. Prioritize topics and learn tricks for topics that you feel are difficult.

  • Practice:

Once the timetable is in place, practice each topic as much as you can. There is no other alternative for it. One can become a pro at logical reasoning only with constant practice. Do not focus solely on just one section and take full-syllabus mock tests after regular intervals as well. Various practice tests are available for NMAT preparation online.

  • Time yourself:

Start practicing LR questions with a timer set. Try to complete a question within a limited time. Once you’re habitual to it, reduce the time limit and challenge yourself. The trick to acing the LR section is to answer correctly and quickly.

  • Look for the Conclusion:

Read the questions carefully and improve your prediction analysis. Most of the time the answer lies within the question itself and requires you to read between the lines. The conclusion of a question might not be at the end but in the middle of the question. Hence, candidates should read the question carefully and look for a possible answer. Paying attention to words like “all”, “some”, “none”, “only”, “other than”, “unless” etc.

  • Visualise:

Visualization is an important aspect when it comes to LR questions. Drawing rough diagrams, tables, charts, etc. while solving questions helps in finding answers more quickly. Focusing on the pictorial description of data enables better prediction analysis. Use tricks like these and try to avoid assuming things, consider only what is known to you.

  • Eliminate:

The knowledge and practice of the theory of elimination enable candidates to reach the correct option easily. After reading the question, eliminate the options which are irrelevant to the question and you know are wrong. This reduces the number of options and then you can consider the remaining options to arrive at the correct option.

Do not limit yourself to just these NMAT preparation tips and consider what works the best for you while creating an NMAT preparation strategy for yourself.
