ISI Entrance Test 2020

 

Entrance test conducted by Indian Statistical Institute is held once every year providing opportunities to candidates to get enrolled in various UG and PG courses like B.Stat (Hons.), B.Math (Hons.), M.Stat, M.Math, MS (QE), MS (QMS), M.Tech and many others. Qualifying the entrance is mandatory for getting enrolled in the different campuses of ISI located at Delhi, Tezpur, Chennai and Bengaluru.

2020 Exam Date has been released on 23rd October 2019. The exam will be conducted on 10th May 2020.

ISI 2020 Eligibility Criteria

 

3-year Bachelor of Statistics (Hons):

Successful completion of 10+2 years of Higher Secondary Education (or its equivalent) with Mathematics and English as subjects; Stipend ₹3000/- per month; offered at Kolkata.

 

3-year Bachelor of Mathematics (Hons):

Successful completion of 10+2 years of Higher Secondary Education (or its equivalent) with Mathematics and English as subjects; Stipend ₹3000/- per month; offered at Bengaluru.

 

2-year Master of Statistics:

(i) 3-year Bachelor’s degree or a BE/B.Tech. degree with Statistics as a subject, or (ii) B. Math. Degree from Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), or (iii) PG Diploma in Statistical Methods and analytics from ISI; Stipend ₹5000/- per month; offered at Delhi and Chennai.

 

2-year Master of Mathematics:

(i) 3-year Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, or (ii) B. Stat. degree from ISI, or (iii) BE/B. Tech. degree with Mathematics as a subject; Stipend ₹5000/per month; offered at Kolkata.

 

2-year Master of Science in Quantitative Economics:

3-year Bachelor’s degree in any discipline and have passed the 12th standard examination with Mathematics as a subject; Stipend ₹5000/- per month; offered at Kolkata and Delhi.

 

2-year Master of Science in Quality Management Science:

2-year Master of Technology in Quality, Reliability & Operations Research:

(i) Master’s degree in Statistics with Physics and Chemistry at (10+2) level or (ii) Master’s degree in Mathematics with Statistics as subjects in the undergraduate or post-graduate level and Physics and Chemistry at (10+2) level or (iii) BE/B. Tech. degree or any other qualification considered (such as AMIE); Stipend ₹8000/- per month; offered at Kolkata.

 

1-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Statistical Methods and Analytics:

(i) 3 year Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with Mathematics as a subject or, (ii) BE/B. Tech. degree or any other qualification considered equivalent (such as AMIE); Stipend ₹2000/- per month for domiciled students of the North East States of India; offered at ISI NE Centre at Tezpur. 50% seats are reserved for domiciled candidates of the North-East states of India.

 

1-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications:

3-year Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with Mathematics as a subject; offered at Giridih.

 

Application Procedure

Candidates residing in India can apply only online, those from abroad should write to the Dean’s office at: dean@isical.ac.in. An admission test is conducted at various centres across India and students applying from overseas will also have to write the test at one of the test centres. Selection is based on the candidates’ performance in written tests followed by interviews taken by the Institute and is also subject to having desired academic qualification

 

ISI 2020 Application Form

Application Form for ISI 2020 will be available (only online) from 7th February 2020 and will get closed in the second week of March 2020.

 

To complete the application process successfully, students must have access to – internet, a valid email id, scanned copy of signature and digital copy of his/her photograph.

 

Before filling the application, students must make sure to go through the complete eligibility criteria.

 

Students belonging to reserved category (ST/SC/OBC – NCL) are required to upload their caste certificate. PwD are required to upload their disability certificate.

  • Application Fee: For general applicants Rs. 1250 / For reserved applicants Rs. 625. The fee can be paid via debit/credit card or net banking. Also through SBI Challan.

 

ISI 2020 Exam Pattern

The pattern generally varies for different courses. However following points are important to know:

 

  • ISI 2020 Entrance exam will be conducted through offline mode.
  • Questions will be of multiple-choice type and descriptive type. Pattern will vary from test for one course to another.
  • The question paper will be divided into two Sections – A and B.
  • Time will be of two hours for each section.
  • Total marks will be 100
  • Negative marking is there and 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Question of entrance exam for undergrad courses will mainly be set from 12th level, while those for post-grad courses will be set from graduation level syllabus.

  • For B.Stat / B.Math entrance course, topics covered will be Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry & Geometry.
  • For M.Stat entrance test, the topics covered will be Mathematics and Statistics.

ISI 2020: Preparation Tips

  1. Prepare a timetable to better manage time which will help you to complete the syllabus in time.
  2. Be aware of the exact syllabus and collate the necessary material.
  3. During preparation, keep revising. Write short notes of formulas and important points for quick recap without having to read the entire chapter or book.
  4. Try and solve as many test papers of previous years, mock tests, sample papers as possible
  5. Finish the syllabus fast so that there is time for rigorous revision
