Law
Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted for students seeking admission to various National Law Universities in the country. It is an entrance test, conducted to provide a list of candidates on the basis of ‘merit-cum- preference’ to each University for admission to their Under-Graduate (UG)/Post-Graduate (PG) programmes, as per the eligibility, reservation and other criteria laid down under the respective Statutes of the participating Universities. It is an all India common entrance examination, conducted on rotational basis by 19 National Law Universities (NLUs) for admissions to their UG and PG degree programmes.
Youth of India that aims to make career in the field of Law must appear for CLAT. Around 50000 candidates apply for Common Law Admission Test every year. General perception is that through CLAT, admission is granted in NLUs but there are 34 more colleges which accept the score of the examination. These institutes have signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CLAT office and use the scores for admission.
