Liberal arts education has been gaining solid popularity in India. Academicians and industry leaders have been evangelizing liberal arts for quite some time now. The career scopes of liberal arts are pretty varied as job opportunities are pretty wide. In this article, we will look at the placement and salary statistics of the Top 10 Liberal Arts Colleges of India.

1. Lady Shri Ram College for Women

The Placement Cell of Lady Shri Ram College for Women serves as an interface between the students and the recruiters. In addition to placement, the cell also organizes workshops, seminars and internship opportunities.

Top highlights –

  • More than 100 companies including McKinsey, BCG, Bloomberg, KPMG Embibe, Inmobi, Mu Sigma, have visited the campus to recruit over 115 students for full-time positions till now, offering highly competitive positions and packages.
  • The average package offered stands at ₹7.5 LPA and has seen a leap from ₹7.3 LPA past year. Also, this year, one of the students has received the highest package in the entire Delhi University of ₹37.8 Lakhs from Bank of America.
  • The Placement cell also created internship opportunities with 320 companies including Standard Chartered, Nomura, Citi Bank, JSW, Amnesty International etc, who have hired students for their coveted summer internship programmes. Highest internship offer was of INR 1,50,000 for two months
  • Placements saw students from different departments including English, History, Psychology, Journalism etc. being recruited by some of the top rated companies in media, tech, Consultancy firms, bank and education institution.

2. SRM University

SRM University Career Center (SRM CC) is the SRM Chennai placement cell that facilitates training before the onset of the placement. Campus interviews and interactive meetings between students and business houses/corporates/industry heads are also held to encourage a better understanding of the job market.

Top highlights –

  • 469 companies have offered 5,684 jobs to the students of SRM IST. Industry leaders like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Fuji Xerox, Hyundai Motors, Honda, Siemens, SAP, Bank of America and Vestas were the biggest recruiters on campus. In the 2017 a student from the Computer Science and Engineering Department was offered $89,000 per annum by a San Francisco based company.
  • The average package offered stands at3 to 5 lakhs while the highest is in the range of 10-11 lakh.
  • SRM also provides internship opportunities to students across the globe to apprentice under some of the biggest names in the industry.
  • The top rated recruiting sectors are Product Companies, IT, Core Engineering, consultancy firms, and bank.

3. Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities

Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities offers placements as well as internships for students.

Top highlights –

  • The highest salary package offered was 18 lakh while the average salary is around INR 4-5 lakh. Top recruiters included NDTV, BBC and Fortis Hospitals. Seven students secured admission in international universities such as University of Oxford, University of Sussex and others.
  • The top-rated recruiting sectors are advertising, design, journalism, publishing, corporate communications, non-government organizations, the corporate sector, performing arts, public relations History & Arts, CSR, Research & tech.

  • Top employers are RBL Bank, Deloitte, Star TV, Ernst & Young  (EY), Max Healthcare, McKinsey & Co, Microsoft Research (SGO), Boston Consulting Group, Mu Sigma, Mephroplus, Bloomberg Quint, NRB Bearings, Business Standard, Central Square Foundation (CSF)

5. Symbiosis School of Liberal Arts

Placements at SSLA are taken care of by the Placement cell which ensures a high placement rate for the students.

Top highlights –

  • The placement rate is around 90% and the average package is 6 lakh per annum. The highest salary is 10 lakh per annum.
  • Top employers are Hindustan Times as well as other organizations like LinkedIn, Deloitte, etc where students get frequently placed.
  • The top-rated recruiting sectors are media, corporate communications, non-government organizations, CSR, Research, and tech.

Those who wish to carry art forward in the future, are open to various different forms of art to choose from. It could be textile designing, ceramic art, glass art, interior designing, mandala art, and the like.

You have to have an artist’s eye, first. You’ve got to perceive art in everything you see. If it interests you, then you know you can go ahead with the subject. You need to understand which form of art appeals to you the most. You can then specialize in that area.
