Are you a Student or Working Professional? Looking forward to building an exciting career in Marketing/Advertising Industry? Getting a degree with decent marks and impressive internships are not enough to fulfill your dream career. You have to stay updated with the latest Marketing trends in this rapidly changing Digital Marketing Industry.
As digital trends evolve every year, marketers should always be aware of the changes in order to easily adapt to emerging technologies and stay ahead in the market. This will help them gain a competitive edge and become able to develop new ways to grow their businesses, improve their relationship with their existing customers and generate leads.
In a series of two blog articles, I will be sharing the Top 10 digital marketing trends. Let’s see them one by one:
1. Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence marketing (AI Marketing) is a method of leveraging customer data and AI concepts like machine learning to anticipate your customer’s next move and improve the customer journey.
Few examples of AI-driven technology we already witness in our digital lives:
- Gmail Smart Compose and Smart Reply features allow the user to compose an entire email with AI-based on past emails and typing habits.
- LinkedIn prompts value-add introductions based on with whom you interacted in the past.
- Facebook Messenger sends auto-responses to your Facebook followers on your brand’s behalf.
The two well-known pioneers in AI-empowered marketing are:
- Amazon: Using AI to analyze each particular buyer’s decisions and suggest products to them they didn’t even know they want or need.
- Netflix: Using AI for content recommendations and beyond. Netflix successfully applies AI for product development too. They have analyzed years of viewer data to create successful products of their own, including the hit “House of Cards” show. Put simply, thanks to AI, Netflix knows what people want before they do.

2. Omnichannel Marketing
If multi-channel marketing was 2018’s buzzword, Omni-channel promises to be the 2019’s. It is the process of using multiple platforms (such as social media, apps or blog content) to give your audience a multi-channel experience. Omni-channel marketing provides a better experience for your prospects because it provides a seamless and consistent communication process to prospects and customers across all channels.
The main aim of Omni-channel marketing is for you to be able to keep track of your customer interactions even though they’re interacting with you through different channels. In turn, your customers will be impressed that you’re paying attention.

Chatbots play a significant role in improving the customer experience as they are responsive 24/7 and helps marketers to be in engaging with their audience – without really doing much.
They offer real-time assistance to the user, dedicated support and proactive interactions where they ask questions to understand the real problem. Many top brands already use Chatbot technology, including Uber, Facebook Messenger, Slack or Google Maps and the Whole Foods Market, Fandango, Sephora, Staples, The Wall Street Journal and Pizza Hut.

4. Video Marketing
According to Cisco, 82% of internet traffic will be through video by 2021.
All Thanks to YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Facebook, Instagram Live and Snap Chat. Video has become a big trend and it will continue to grow in the coming years.
This past year, 65 percent of ad impressions on Instagram were the result of video content, and this is expected to grow even further. With this type of growth and consumption of video ads by consumers, video ads should be part of every marketer’s strategy in the coming years. Marketers can accelerate their video ad content by running video ads on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, etc.

5. Personalized Marketing
In order to stand out in 2019, you need to personalize your marketing. That means personalized content, products, emails, and more.
As per EmailMonks, “Personalized, triggered e-mails based on behavior are 3x better than batch-and-blast e-mails.”
Sites like Netflix, Amazon, and Pinterest, not to mention Google and Facebook, all use personalized marketing campaigns. They mine your search history, what you liked and didn’t like, and provide recommendations for similar products you didn’t even intend to buy.
